Jack Thompson, who is already facing one disciplinary hearing from the Florida Bar, is now getting hit with another. This time, it is in regard to last year’s Bully suit. The judge presiding over that hearing has filed complaints about Mr. Thompson, and the Florida Supreme Court is taking action. A Miami judge, Dava Tunis, will hear the trial, and if things go well and the verdict finds Thompson guilty of these charges, then he will be in quite a bit of hot water.
The complaints point at Thompson’s 15-page draft following the Bully trial, which was ostensibly a libel of Judge Friedman, and included statements such as follows:
- "What you conducted in your chambers, Judge, was the equivalent of Iran leading UN weapons inspectors around the country taking them places where the illegal activity was not occurring."
- "The behavior of this judge was abominable. which was made all the worse by the fact that he engaged in these childish antics in front of the media in the courtroom."
- "Here’s a tip, Judge, I don’t just practice law. I save lives from reckless jurists like you."
- "You missed the gay sex… I’m sure the voters are going to love that. Go ahead, Judge. File your bar complaint. Make my day."
Gaming industry proponents, as well as the Florida Bar itself, seem to be ready to make this man go away. Wild, unprofessional behavior such as Mr. Thompson’s, especially when fueled by an utter lack of truthful information, has no place in US courtrooms.
