Fingers have been crossed by gamers across the nation for months now, each hoping to receive an e-mail of acceptance into the upcoming Halo 3 beta, and finally the first phase of the registration process has ended. Bungie is sending out notifications to the lucky individuals who have gotten into the program. The actual testing will begin in spring, and the valued letter–which, no doubt, will be framed on the walls of many Halo fans–says simply, "Congratulations [name] you have been chosen to participate in the Halo 3 beta." The notification isn’t exactly a gem of literary prowess, but it does tell gamers what they need to know–that he or she has been accepted. Other details in the letter include the minimum requirements for participating in the public beta test, which consist of an active Xbox Live Gold subscription and a hard drive.
If you missed out on the first round of registration, Bungie has also opened up other opportunities to get into the beta program. By either logging in a set number of hours playing Halo 2 on Xbox Live and signing up for a limited number of testing spots, or by buying specially marked copies of the game Crackdown, gamers will be able to gain access to the beta.
