Square Enix recently announced the North American release of Final Fantasy XII for October 31, 2006. As usual, the game will be featured exclusively on the PlayStation 2. Fans will also be able to nab a collector,s edition at GameStop or EB Games, featuring special packaging, bonus trailers, in-depth developer interviews, artwork, and featurettes highlighting the Final Fantasy franchise.FFXII sold over 2.4 million copies in Japan since its release this past March. The story begins in the small kingdom of Dalmasca. War is brewing as the Archadian Empire prepares to invade its neighboring territories, including Dalmasca. The player follows the storyline with Vaan, a young man out for revenge on the Empire, and the sole surviving heir to the Dalmascan throne, Princess Ashe.Final Fantasy XII features new, English voiced, cut scenes to fully convert the title for a North American audience. Fans will also get to experience the Active Dimension Battle system, allowing the player to move seamlessly between the over world and combat. Each character will also have fully customizable skills and abilities, allowing for added replay value.
The title will retail for an MSRP of $49.99 USD or $59.99 USD for the collector,s edition.
