Film composer Clint Mansell, whose most recent work includes "The Wrestler" and "Black Swan", will be entering the world of videogame music this year with Mass Effect 3.
In a recent interview the composer was asked about any projects outside of film, leading to the reveal that he will working on the soundtrack for Mass Effect 3. Mansell then went on to express the difference in approach in regards to videogame music and Mass Effect 3 specifically.
"You’ve got the holding pattern, then the big explosion where you need the score to kick in," he said. "Then you need to take it off on a tangent. You’ve got all these different elements that change depending on what the player does."
Getting such an acclaimed film composer to work on Mass Effect 3 is a great move on BioWare’s part. This will be Clint Mansell’s first score for a video game, but if it’s anything like his best work then Mass Effect fans should be very excited.
