The powerhouse known as EA Sports has signed yet another organization to an exclusive licensing agreement — this time with FIBA, allowing you the opportunity to play in the FIBA World Championship.
NBA Live 08, the first game to feature the new event, will ship with eight international teams: France, China, Italy, Germany, Argentina, Greece, Spain and USA. Choosing the "FIBA World Championship Mode" from the menu allows players to to compete in an eight-team, single elimination tournament with the options of choosing authentic team rosters, jerseys and more. Future versions (or downloadable content) will add more international teams.
Although this is a nice little addition, it’s not going to make the game a must-buy for me (it’d take a major overhaul of the gameplay system away from the arcade element to do that), but it’s definitely a feature that I believe will appeal to the international audience.
