In an update to what crazy movie director Uwe Boll is cooking up (and screwing up) next — his movie based on the FPS Far Cry. It was hinted last month that Boll is heading to Vancouver to shoot the film. An update on GameDaily BIZ today provided more details on the film.
The movie will have a budget of $30 million and Boll is directly working with Crytek (instead of Ubisoft), who developed the game back in 2004. In addition to Til Schweiger (Tomb Raider 2, King Arthur) as the lead role of Jack Carver, Emanuelle Vaugier (CSI: NY, Need for Speed: Carbon) was cast as reporter Valerie Cardinal. Other roles include Craig Fairbass (White Noise 2) as Parker and Udo Kier (Grindhouse, BloodRayne) as Dr. Krieger.
The movie script will follow the events in the game: Jack and Valerie head to a mysterious island for a scoop and they find the island is inhabited by Dr. Krieger and his experiments. Film production is currently on the way and will end on August 4th.
While the movie is expected to be released next year, Boll is not sitting on his hands (I hope he would though) till then. He has Postal being released on September 28th and In the Name of the King (based on RPG Dungeon Siege) being released on January 18th. Boll also has an original horror film (shocking!) called Seed, being released sometime next year.
