Although exclusive titles for the PS3 have been about as rare as sightings of UFOs in your bedroom, there still are exclusive titles (for now) that are still tracked for release on the console, according to a report from the semi-official Sony blog Three Speech.
So what can we expect down the road? Final Fantasy XIII is still safe in Sony’s arms at the moment and Square Enix is getting ready to blow the lid off of all previous Final Fantasy games with the number thirteen in the series. Not only that, "Squeenix" is also developing another title which is more action packed. The title will be called Final Fantasy Versus XIII. All of you early FF fans (nerd alert) will remember "Red 13" as the powerful tiger-like animal in FFVII. Is the new title’s name a hint that there maybe a reappearance of the character? We don’t know either but if it does happen, you heard it here first on GamerNode. Expected release date? Try December on for size.
Another exclusive for the PS3 coming down the pike is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. At the moment, this PS3 title is scheduled for release in 2007, but those in the know doubt this as Konami hasn’t been exactly punctual in the releases of the MGS games.
But if PS3 owners are clamoring for more new titles to play with, it seems that September will be the bonanza month for hot titles. Among those listed are Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, a new Ratchet and Clank, and Killzone.
If anything will salvage market share for the PS3, some killer apps for Sony’s machine may finally prove its worth to some of the skeptics and let’s-wait-and-see crowd out there.
