Shadow Complex 2 was teased earlier this year by Chair Entertainment’s creative director, but now parent company Epic Games needs another studio to help finish development. Chair had been taken off the project to work on Infinity Blade, Epic’s first foray into iOS development.
Cliff Bleszinski explained the reasoning behind the move to Infinity Blade by saying the studio needed a "flagship product for iOS." There were original plans to port Shadow Complex to iOS, but those were eventually scrapped for an all new product.
Commenting on Shadow Complex 2, Bleszinski added that it is "largely designed" and that Epic just needs a partner to help finish development and "bring the game to market."
Shadow Complex is an award-winning 2D side-scrolling action platformer that has a very distinctive Metroid and Castlevania style. It took advantage of the 3D Unreal 3 Engine to integrate elements of depth and perspective.
