Elder Scrolls V unofficially confimed

Bethesda

The Elder Scrolls V is currently in development at Bethesda Softworks, reports Eurogamer Denmark.

According to the report, which cites "official game documents" at a closed-doors meeting with an unnamed source, the game will feature a fantasy setting, and will be a direct sequel to the 2006 hit, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

"This source not only confirmed that the game is in current production, but also spoke briefly about the content — with fantasy-sounding phrases like Dragon Lord, something with The Blades — and that voice acting for the characters in the game is currently happening in the weeks to follow," said editor Kristian West.

Back in August, Executive Producer Todd Howard stated that the technology behind the studio’s current project is derived from Fallout 3, and would represent a more significant jump from that game than was seen over Oblivion. "You almost feel like you have a new console when you see the game," he said. He also noted that the game was "pretty far along" and that the developer was planning to hold out on revealing the game until it was much nearer to completion.

Well now we’ve heard about it; can we have a 2011 release, please?
