In its Q2 2007 financial report, EA CEO John Riccitiello said that EA wouldn’t be able to meet the overwhelming demand for Rock Band through the impending holiday and into the year’s end.
Riccitiello said, "We won’t be able to put up enough inventory to meet the demand of this fiscal or calendar year." Note that the game’s price tag is $169, so do you really think people are going to go crazy for Rock Band? I’ve been playing a lot of Guitar Hero II lately, so Rock Band’s appeal is immense, curses!
"On the 19th of November I would get in line outside your favorite retailer, because we’ve got one hot product, we have a lot of inventory coming — and my expectation is that it will sell through," a confident Riccitiello said.
Riccitiello finally closed his statements by saying to those who don’t pick up Rock Band at launch "…won’t be getting one for Christmas unless you know someone at one of our retailers."
