EA moves Tiger Woods production to Florida studio

Followers of EA’s Madden franchise have always expected, and received, top-notch football games to play. What is little known is that the games are developed and produced at EA studios located in Tiburon, Florida. The Florida site dedicates its energies in making annual game staples such as NASCAR, NCAA Football and of course, the Madden titles. EA is adding another project for Tiburon to develop — the long running Tiger Woods PGA Tour series, which has long been produced at EA Redwood City headquarters, located in California.

Steve Chiang, the general manager for EA Tiburon, told the Orlando Sentinel, "It makes sense for us to have the franchise here. Florida is a hotbed of golf, NCAA and NFL football, and the PGA’s headquarters is in Ponte Vedra."

The move from Redwood City, CA to Tiburon, Florida is a significant one. The reassignment of production duties may be an indication that EA management has lost confidence in the production teams at California headquarters and is trying to ramp up the golf series into a higher level of quality. The Tiger Woods games, while somewhat popular, has suffered bouts of production quality issues and lackluster gameplay throughout the years.

EA eyes will be watching Tiburon studios quite closely to see if it can score an Eagle with the new assignment.
