SEGA has announced that it will be bringing classic Dreamcast titles to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade this fall. Sonic Adventure: DX and Crazy Taxi will be among the first games to appear for download, followed soon after by other classics if sales are positive. SEGA recently said that it plans to shift its focus to download only games, so it comes as no surprise that popular Dreamcast titles will be appearing on current-gen systems.
At launch, the games will feature high-resolution visuals, surround sound support, Achievements, Trophies, and online leaderboard rankings.
SEGA’s digital Vice President, Haruki Satomi, said the following about the company’s commitment to its fans:
"The Dreamcast is fondly remembered by a large community of dedicated fans as a console that was ahead of its time in terms of graphics, quality and online gaming. There are few things that are more requested from us than making Dreamcast classics available for download in today’s digital market place. We’re very excited to begin offering gamers our beloved Dreamcast titles again on the current console systems."
Now, if only we could get back the SEGA scream, all would be well in the world.
