All has been quiet on the Bioshock Infinite front recently, but Irrational Games have a surprise for us this Sunday: new trailer time! World rejoice.
The trailer, comprised entirely of in-game footage, shows protagonist Booker DeWitt and Elizabeth fighting for their lives in the strange floating city of Columbia. There are glimpses of Infinite‘s answer to Bioshock‘s plasmids, the terrifying Handymen, and combat from Columbia’s vertigo-inducing network of Skylines.
While the first Bioshock was a playable critique of Randian philosophy (as well as a clever subversion of linear narrative in games) Bioshock Infinite‘s Columbia appears to be a representation of early 20th century era American exceptionalism. Thoughtful stuff, and I have to say I’m looking forward to it.
Bioshock Infinite is currently slated for a February 26 release.
