The anticipation for Diablo III is nearly through the roof with the closed beta in full effect, and now Blizzard has some very exciting news regarding the release of the upcoming action RPG.
The company announced in a press release today that Diablo III has a launch window of early 2012. Although a specific date wasn’t given, this is a big reveal considering Blizzard has kept any release date information a secret up to this point.
Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment, explained the decision to wait so long before planning on a definite window of time for the game’s release.
"With every game we make, the temptation is always very strong to launch as soon as possible," he said. "However, we didn’t put so many years of work into Diablo III to release a game that was almost ready. The beta test is going very well, and we look forward to making the most of the extra time we’re taking to deliver an experience that lives up to our vision for the game and the expectations of our players."
Blizzard has also stated that the Diablo III closed beta will be extended, and additional testers may be added. Further details will be added to the game’s community website in the near future.
