Yesterday, it was reported that Sony dropped their 13 year-old association with ad agency TBWA and was looking for some fresh blood to run the Sony PlayStation ad campaign.
Today, it was announced that the Los Angeles firm, Deutsch, an advertising company worth $2.7 billion, will be at the helm of the new ads.
The company was founded in 1969 and handles the accounts for companies such as Verizon, General Motors, Ikea and Johnson & Johnson. Chairman Donny Deutsch and CEO Linda Sawyer run the successful business.
If the name Donny Deutsch sounds familiar, he has his own television show on CNBC named The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch where he interviews various big name personalities.
The Sony account won by Deutsch is worth $150 million. The previous PS3 ads done by TBWA were commonly seen as lacking in creativity and substance. Sony is definitely serious about changing its image by going with this new player.
Let’s see how the new kids on the block do with the PS3.
