Square Enix is not having a happy holiday season.
After announcing they were revamping Final Fantasy XIV (and delaying it on the PS3) due to an unimpressive launch on the PC, the publisher has announced that they are now delaying the release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
Originally scheduled to come out by the end of March 2011, the game has been pushed into the beginning of the next fiscal year. While it is unlikely, this means the game could be out as early as April 2011.
Square Enix sent out a statement explaining why they delayed their highly anticipated installment in the series. It seems one of their other titles (guesses, anyone?) took a serious punch that has left the company swaying on its feet; afraid of being knocked down completely.
"With weak sales performance of console game titles that have been newly released during the current fiscal year as well as harsh market feedback regarding a key title, the Group recognizes the reinforcement of development capability in our Digital Entertainment segment as our most critical managerial issue," Square Enix wrote.
