2K Games has announced that someone from the community will design the cover art for the collector’s edition of BioShock. The contest will run from now until May 2. First place will get their art on the box, a copy of BioShock Limited Edition for the 360 and PC, and a trip to the BioShock launch party. Second place will net a t-shirt, an exclusive download on Xbox Live and a copy of the Limited Edition. And third place will get a t-shirt and copy of the game.
This inclusion of the community started back late last month when a petition asking for 5000 signatures for the limited edition was made. Do to the overwhelming response (over 19,000), a poll was then made to ask what would be included in the limited edition. Over 26,000 votes were made with 38% voting for a Big Daddy figurine. 15% went both to an art book and a ‘making of’ DVD. Next was 14% for a soundtrack CD.
BioShock will be in stores on August 21 for the PC and Xbox 360.
