Many who enjoyed killing zombies en masse with golf clubs and guitars in the hit Xbox 360 game Dead Rising will definitely see more zombies in their future, as Capcom has announced that the game will be turned into a franchise.
Mark Beaumont of Capcom said that several new installments of the game will be available fin the future. He stated, "Bringing out Dead Rising has allowed us to establish a new franchise that we can use for years to come."
Dead Rising was released in August of 2006 and has amassed worldwide sales of over 1 million copies. For fans of the game, it is welcome news, but it is also an indication of the game industry’s knee-jerk reaction in producing sequels of successful games. Ironically enough, Dead Rising was seen as a departure from the norm upon its release, and many questioned the commercial viability of the offbeat game.
