Commodore International Corporation, formerly Yeahronimo, announced at CES that it plans on bringing back the archaic Commodore in the forms of a handheld gaming device.
This new device will be called the Commodore Combo and will come preloaded with five 8-bit arcade games. CIC announced that they have already acquired rights to over 90 arcade titles that will be available online in the form of purchasable downloads. As of now, they are planning on keeping the distribution system completely online and games will be available from kiosks at select retailers.
On top of the already available arcade classics, they are looking for developers to create original 8-bit games for the device. As far as the nuts and bolts of the hardware are concerned, the Combo will feature a 20 gig hard drive and run Windows CE. In addition to gaming it will also have some other functionality including a fully functional GPS.
