SCI FI Wire is reporting that a movie based on NCSoft and Cryptic Studio’s MMORPG City of Heroes is currently in the works.
This past week, producer Tom DeSanto (Transformers, X-Men 2) snatched up the film rights for a live-action film and a transition into a television show afterwards.
The plot of the film will center on a group of superheroes in Paragon City who team up to fight an invasion of aliens called the Rikti.
Since its release, a series of novels have been released along side City of Heroes and the third book, The Rikti War, may be the basis of the upcoming film.
With the recent flair of announcements for video game movies, hopefully they’ll turn out good–Uwe Boll excluded of course.
