Capcom press event detailed; new games!

capcomlogoIf you’ve been missing the news (shame on you) lately, there has been a sudden increase of Capcom-related stories. Well, thanks to our awesome detective powers, they’re related to a press event Capcom held a few days ago where they unveiled several new games and made plenty of juicy announcements.

Newly formed developer Airtight Games announced plans to develop a "steam punk action game" featuring a jetpack-wearing protagonist. While no platforms or release date have been announced, just thinking of the over-the-top jetpack action potential just makes me begin to drool.

Capcom revealed that action game Lost Planet: Extreme Condition will be heading to PS3. Feel free to read our Xbox 360 review or our PC review.

That’s followed by an unexpected announcement of a sequel to an early Capcom game titled Commando 3. The game will be released over Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network and will feature three-player co-op in a top-down shooter environment. Just thinking of the immense fun makes me pretty happy.

Speaking of old games getting new sequels, another old Capcom game is getting the shock treatment: Bionic Commando. The new Bionic Commando game is heading to PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, but a release date wasn’t announced. A cool-looking trailer can be seen here.

Next, Capcom announced Street Fighter 4! Wow, where did this come from? The release date is pretty far off – mid-late 2008 or 2009; so I wouldn’t set aside time to wait at the moment.

Lastly, Capcom confirmed February 2008 as the official "timeframe" for Devil May Cry 4. The game is heading to Xbox 360 and PS3.
