Initially revealed this past weekend, Infinity Ward is planning an announcement for this weekend regarding an upcoming game. Today, Activision sent word that the announcement is for Call of Duty 4. Subtitled Modern Warfare, this confirms past rumors stating the WWII FPS franchise will be jumping to the frontlines of modern combat. No other details have been revealed other than that a television commercial will be airing during the 2007 NFL draft that’ll take place this weekend. The commercial should air at around 1 pm EDT.
There’s currently no word if the series will be returning to the PC or if it’ll continue on consoles like Call of Duty 3. Judging that Infinity Ward will be developing the fourth installment and that its Call of Duty games went to PC (Call of Duty 3 wasn’t developed by Infinity Ward nor did it go to PC), it might be safe to assume that Call of Duty 4 will be heading to PC.
