Earlier this morning 2K Games and Gearbox Software officially announced the development of Borderlands 2, just a day after reports surfaced that the game will be coming out sometime in 2012.
No actual release date has been revealed yet, but the game will hit store shelves during Take-Two’s next fiscal year. That means Borderlands 2 will come out sometime after April 1, 2012 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
Gearbox is hard at work on the game, creating "all-new characters, skills, environments, enemies, weapons and equipment." Players will come across this content as they venture through "unexplored new areas of Pandora."
Fans of the Borderlands series eagerly awaiting new information won’t have to wait too long. Borderlands 2 is the cover story for the current issue of Game Informer Magazine.
In addition, the game will be featured at Gamescom 2011 and PAX Prime. The two events occur on August 17-21 and August 26-28 respectively.
