StarCraft fans have been itching to fight new battles against their favorite Protoss, Zergs and Terrans for quite a while now, and rumors have been flying around the internet that Blizzard has a new StarCraft in the works. While Blizzard hasn’t admitted to anything official yet, they seem to be hinting that the new game it’s developing will be heavily based on a StarCraft-like setting.
Blizzard responded to Kotaku about a possible new episode of StarCraft by saying, "We do intend to announce a new product at the Worldwide Invitational next month in Korea, and we appreciate the enthusiasm and interest in getting an advance look at what that will be, but players will have to wait until May 19th to find out more. Also, we have a very strong connection with the characters and settings of StarCraft, and we do plan to revisit that universe at some point in the future, but we don’t have anything new to announce in that regard at present."
So will there be a StarCraft 2? As Blizzard said, we’ll have to wait until May 19 to find out.
