In case you don’t understand what the ridiculously long abbreviation means, it’s Knight’s of the Old Republic Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. And now you know why it’s abbreviated.
A source close to BioWare confirmed that the untitled MMORPG is set in the Star Wars universe of the Knights of the Old Republic. That means it takes place a couple thousand years before the movie timeframe.
The game is headed by BioWare Creative Director James Ohlen, who’s worked on KOTOR, Neverwinter Nights and Baldur’s Gate I and II. Quite the impressive resume.
This will be the second Star Wars based MMORPG behind Star Wars Galaxies, which launched in 2003. The new game is due for release sometime in 2009.
