In a statement released today, BioWare Co-founder Dr. Ray Muzkya announced upcoming plans to add content and “provide further closure” to Mass Effect 3.
“Building on their research, Exec Producer Casey Hudson and the team are hard at work on a number of game content initiatives that will help answer the questions, providing more clarity for those seeking further closure to their journey,” he said. “You’ll hear more on this in April. We’re working hard to maintain the right balance between the artistic integrity of the original story while addressing the fan feedback we’ve received.
“This is in addition to our existing plan to continue providing new Mass Effect content and new full games, so rest assured that your journey in the Mass Effect universe can, and will, continue.”
Fans of the series have been criticizing BioWare and Hudson for Mass Effect 3‘s ending since the game launched two weeks ago. Critics of the ending claim that the final moments are almost identical, discount the player’s choices throughout the series, and provide little to no closure for key characters. The “Retake Mass Effect” movement has been pushing for BioWare to change the game’s ending, garnering nearly 50,000 fans on Facebook and over $75,000 in Child’s Play donations.
Dr. Muzkya also added that BioWare welcomes continued feedback and constructive criticism, but urges those whose comments are more…”destructive” to keep it to themselves.
