During a recent interview, BioWare heads Dr. Ray Muzyka and Dr. Greg Zeschuk revealed that while there is no formal announcement with regards to a Mac version of the studio’s recently released MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic, that does not mean they are not thinking about the possibility.
“We know there’s a big Mac audience of BioWare fans … we know that’s an important and large audience. And we want to serve that audience,” said Muzyka in the interview.
Zeschuk was quick to downplay his partner’s words as a decree that the version was definitely on its way, stating that the process has “not yet” been given the go-ahead.
“We’ve done a lot of Mac ports before of our games,” continued Muzyka. “We haven’t announced any details yet for The Old Republic, but we know that’s an important and large audience.”
Mac users who still long to travel the galaxy, wield lightsabers, and fire blasters should not fret just yet however. Zeschuk merely asks that they remain patient and hopeful while BioWare contemplates its post-launch decisions.
“That’s definitely one of the things we’re looking at next,” he said. “We want to get this launch under our belt and everything stabilized and happy, and then we’ll look at other platforms, and that’s obviously one of the first ones.”
