Sega’s VP of sales and marketing Alan Pritchard has revealed that "two or three big Sonic announcements" are planned for early 2011.
In an interview with Game Informer Pritchard admits his company has been "guilty of bringing too much Sonic to market," and Sega is now dedicated to a quality over quantity approach.
"We’re looking to improve the quality and focus of a pure Sonic platform gaming experience. We have released Sonic 4 digitally, which has reviewed very well."
He then went on to add how the aforementioned announcements will play into that new strategy.
"But to your point, we have some announcements in the early part of next year that will further support and add to this strategy. There will be two of three big Sonic announcements in the early part of next calendar year."
Sonic seems to be getting back on track with titles like Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 and Sonic Colors being released this year. Let’s hope these announcements continue that trend in 2011.
