Yoichi Wada, President of Square Enix North America, will be replaced by John Yamamoto, the head of Square Enix’s European operations. The move by Square Enix is most likely to foster growth of its products in America. Before the additional duties of acting as president of North American operations, Yamamoto was successful in increasing the market share of Square Enix in Europe and other related territories.
Yoichi Wada served as President of SquareSoft, the publishers of the popular Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest franchises before the company’s merger with Enix. After the two firms combined, Wada held on to his position as President of the newly formed company, Square Enix.
No word has come from Square Enix as to Wada’s future role within the company.
