Star Trek Legacy, which launches this fall on both the Xbox 360 and PC, has at least one thing going for it – all five captains from the popular TV series will be voicing their respective characters in Legacy.
Bethesda Softworks announced today that they have assembled the five actors who played captains in the various Star Trek shows over the years to lend their voices for the upcoming RTS/action game Star Trek: Legacy. For the record, they are William Shatner as Captain James T. Kirk, Patrick Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Avery Brooks as Captain Benjamin Lafayette Sisko, Kate Mulgrew as Captain Kathryn Janeway, and Scott Bakula as Captain Jonathan Archer.
The announcement even features a communication from the Shat himself: "I am delighted to have the chance to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Star Trek with my fellow captains by providing our voices to Star Trek: Legacy. Bethesda Softworks has done an excellent job in creating an exciting game that stays true to Star Trek,s roots and accurately incorporates elements from each series."
Last week, it was revealed that original writer D.C. Fontana has collaborated on the scripts for Star Trek: Legacy. Given that Legacy spans the course of the entire Star Trek universe, it seems like a great decision to not hire bad impressionists to apprise the role of the Captains, and instead hire bad actors that originally did it (I,m looking at you, Shatner).
