Bethesda Softworks announced earlier today via press release that the company will publish Dishonored, an upcoming first-person action game.
The new title is being developed by Arkane Studios, best known for Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. This will be the studio’s first game since being acquired by ZeniMax in 2010.
Some prominent industry figures have been brought in to lend their talents to the game’s development. Harvey Smith, lead designer on Deus Ex, will be sharing the creative director role with Raphael Colantonio. Viktor Antonov, the man behind Half-Life 2‘s City 17, will help craft Dishonored‘s world.
Colantonio expressed Arkane’s excitement over the big reveal.
"At Arkane we have a passion for creating deep, immersive game experiences," he said. "To be able to finally share details of our project is both extremely exciting and satisfying."
Dishonored will by the cover story for Game Informer’s August issue, which ships to subscribers this month. Further details will be revealed on the magazine’s website in the coming weeks.
The game is set for a 2012 release on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
