So what will Nodie-Award-winning composer Austin Wintory do with the Grammy he’s about to win (we hope) on Sunday? Well for one, he’s going to work on a level for Beatbuddy, the upcoming music-action game from THREAKS.
Beatbuddy is currently in an alpha stage of development, coming to PC and Mac later this year, and presents musical compositions to players in the form of two-dimensional action-platforming levels. Each area mimics a single track, and the elements of its mechanics and visuals match the elements of the audio associated with it.
Said Wintory about the collaboration, “When THREAKS first reached out to me, I couldn’t wrap my head around what the game would be like, but I couldn’t help but be incredibly intrigued. Very quickly thereafter I came to realize what Beatbuddy could be and I had to be a part of it. It is a chance to explore a type of music I’d never touched before within a gameplay style I’d never worked with, and that combination is a dream.”
If Austin is excited, then we’re excited. For more insight into what exactly Beatbuddy is, have a look at the video below and check out the demo on Steam.
