On ArenaNet’s official blog last night, the developer of Guild Wars 2 became one of the first game companies to officially announce that it will be attending PAX East 2011. With the announcement also came the reveal that not only would their highly-anticipated MMORPG be on hand at the event, but that the demo available will be "brand new".
While no details were given on what will be included in the demo, Martin Kerstein, ArenaNet’s German community manager and writer of the blog post, stated that it will have "loads of new content."
The demo will be present on Friday, March 11 at the NCSoft PAX East Meet and Greet at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel. What time the event will take place was not revealed, but Kerstein wrote that players will be able to meet with ArenaNet developers like Lead Content Designer Colin Johanson.
"This is your chance to hang out with your favorite developers, score some sweet loot, and play the Guild Wars 2 demo on one of 20 demo stations," he announced. "This event will be open to everybody, so keep in mind that admission will be limited to the capacity of the venue."
ArenaNet will also be taking part in a few panels at the East Coast event. The developer will be hosting its own Guild Wars 2 panel titled "Guild Wars 2 – Fantasy MMO Redefined" with Johanson, designer Jon Peters, artist Tirzah Bauer, and more. Johanson will also be part of the MMORPG.com panel "The Future of Online Games" while Community Manager Regina Buenaobra will be involved in both the "What the Heck is a Community Manager?" and "One of Us" panels.
With only 20 demo stations and thousands of attendees, it may be a good idea for fans of the game to arrive extra early for a chance to play Guild Wars 2 when ArenaNet shows it off in Boston this March.
