American McGee, the outspoken wunderkind behind several critically lauded games, gave his perspective of which next-gen machine would take honors as the winner. In no uncertain terms, McGee said that Nintendo,s Wii would win. In an interview given to CVG, McGee proclaimed, "The only truly next-gen console out there is the Wii. Everything else is just a video card and processor upgrade.”
He continued by saying the other companies are just in it for the profits. "I sense that Nintendo is going to capture the hearts of gamers while Microsoft and Sony stab each other in the neck for market domination. Nintendo is focused on innovation and games. The other guys are focused on making money."
We can,t speak for Nintendo, but while McGee,s assertion that Nintendo is funneling all their efforts into innovation and games, it is also true that Nintendo expects to reap the rewards of their labors by selling lots of Wiis and making lots of money as well. If anything, McGee may be correct in his feelings that Nintendo,s Wii may capture the interests of gamers-both the hard-core and casual.
