Initially hinted at for quite some time, THQ finally blew the lid off the casket and announced Saints Row 2 today. Returning for the next installment will be series developer Volition, Inc. Saints Row 2 will be heading to Xbox 360 and PS3 sometime in 2008.
The game will include plenty of new features, including expanded customization options, an expanded city of Stilwater, new vehicles, sandbox tools and both online co-op and competitive multiplayer.
In addition, THQ launched the game's website and one screenshot can be found below. Here's a bit from the press release:
"Saints Row 2 is set years after the original Saints Row in a Stilwater both familiar and strange. The explosive conclusion to Saints Row has left the player wounded, betrayed and thirsty for revenge, and now it's time to take back the city that has forgotten him. A sequel to the first open-world title on next-generation consoles, Saints Row 2 features all new customization options, including gender, age, voice, crib and gang customization.
The sandbox just got larger with a totally transformed and expanded city of Stilwater, offering all new locations to explore with new vehicles, including motorcycles, boats, helicopters and planes. Saints Row 2 will be playable online in 2-player co-op through the entire single-player campaign or in the all new open-world competitive multiplayer mode never before seen in the genre. Developed by THQ internal studio Volition, Inc., Saints Row 2 is anticipated to be available for the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 system in 2008."

Still needs to complete the first one. :P
Sounds alright.
looks like it will be pretty cool...
The only problem I had with the first one was the character animations. If they fix those then I'll be happy with the second.
