Nintendo raid in Mexico nets 15,000 items; brings worldwide total to 100k

MariosRemember just weeks ago when the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents conducted a massive raid throughout 16 states in an effort to cut down on video game piracy? Well, if you happen to live in Mexico and thought to yourself, "Damn! The US gets all the fun!" you were wrong.

Earlier today, Mexican authorities conducted raids on 12 alleged distributors of Nintendo products in a major market in Guadalajara. Authorities confiscated over 15,000 counterfeit Nintendo products, including 4500 counterfeit Wii discs. This bumps the total number of illegal Nintendo products confiscated in Guadalajara to over 65,000 with 15,000 Wii discs.

In other news, this Mexican raid has apparently gotten Nintendo to the 100,000 mark in terms of total illegal products confiscated since they began working with worldwide agencies in January.

Have no fear, citizens of the world. Your streets are safe (from counterfeit Nintendo products, modchips, modded consoles, and burned games).

Thank God for these folks. Nothing pisses me off quite as much as people pirating consoles and modders. Games, on the other hand, I have no right to speak of pirating games...
