Category: Industry, Posted: 08/03/2007 at 01:02PM CDT by Billy Wang, Previews Editor

gowmovie2Variety is reporting that producer Samuel Hadida has signed on to produce the upcoming film based on id Software and Raven Software's FPS Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Stepping in the director shoes is Roger Avary.

This film will team up Hadida and Avary again after Silent Hill, the 2006 horror film, which was written by Avary. Hadida has gained fame for producing several video game-to-film adaptations, including Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Resident Evil: Apocalypse and the upcoming Resident Evil: Extinction, Onimusha and Silent Hill sequel.

In other video game to films news, there's a rumor that Underworld director Len Wiseman is eyeballing to direct the upcoming Gears of War movie. Since New Line scooped up the film rights back in March, not a lot of news has been trickling down the grapevine lately.

*Sigh* I really, really hope they stay true to the plot of Wolfenstein, simple as it is. Video-Game to Movie adaptions always chew up the story, and spit it out onto the Silver, CGI-Encrusted screen.
