New details have emerged about the semi-sequel, Viva Pinata: Party Animals. Lead designer Cameron Davis sat down with the folks at PinataIsland.info and dished the goods.
The game is based around a fictional reality TV show, which happens to be the Pinatas' favorite form of entertainment. Cameron describes the program:
"It pits four willing (or foolish) Piñatas in a whirlwind race from one end of Piñata Island to the other. At every stop the contestants compete in a handful of mini games where the main goal is to collect as much candy as possible to earn points. You get bonus points for doing well in the races, and whoever has the most points at the end of the games wins the main prize. This is, of course, the opportunity to go to a VIP party and be the star Pinata!"
He goes on to say that the game is presented like a television broadcast, with commentary, highlights, and the like. The game will feature eight playable characters - six of which appear on the real-life TV show, and are voiced by the same actors.
Finally, when asked about a possible Xbox Live demo, Davis responded with, "It should be out very, very, very soon, if not already."
Nice! Wait there while I go check my Xbox....
...nope, not there yet, but as Cameron said, keep an eye out for it "very, very, very soon."

Hmm... Sounds a little too uninteresting for me.
Aw man. No more raising and taking care of cute Piñatas animals? I might have to pass on this one. :(
