According to the latest data collected from the Nielsen GamePlay Metrics service, the PlayStation 2 accounted for 42% of total console usage during the month of June. The company collected and tracked data from 68.1 million individuals and found that they racked up over 180 hours of gaming time throughout the month.
The Xbox 360 accounted for 8% of total console usage. 360 players were tallied for playing 2.2 gaming sessions per day and each session lasted around an hour. Their rival, the PlayStation 3, accounted for 1.5% of total console usage. PS3 players were tallied for playing 1.9 sessions per day and each session lasted over an hour and a half.
Rounding out the console side was the Wii, which accounted for 4% of total console usage. Gaming sessions were tagged at 1.78 per day, and each session lasted around close to an hour.
As for PC gamers, MMORPG king World of Warcraft dominated gameplay hours, which was played 4 times as much as any other PC game. The top 5 played PC games for the month were World of Warcraft, Halo: Combat Evolved, The Sims, Halo 2 and RuneScape.
I'll admit, seeing Halo and Halo 2 being in the top 5 most-played PC games certainly surprised me.

Ermm What about counter-strike?!?
CS isn't really as popular with gamers as it was before. I don't see new people EVER playing the game, because the CS players aren't exactly portrayed in a friendly light.
