According to its official Twitter page, Final Fantasy XIV will go into open beta testing phase early this September. Those fortunate enough to try the game before then will have until August 25th to finish out phase 3 of the current beta testing period.
Final Fantasy XIV continues the online Final Fantasy legacy that began in 2002 with Final Fantasy XI. Gameplay takes place in the world of Eorzea, where multiple nations live in peace after banding together to stop an impending invasion. When the attackers neglected show themselves, Eorzea’s inhabitants were left with an abundance of mercenaries and soldiers with no purpose. Now, as newly labled adventurers, these brave combatants travel the land in search of excitement.
Final Fantasy XIV is scheduled to release on September 30th for PC and sometime in March 2011 for PS3 owners. PC gamers willing to splurge on the Collector’s Edition of the game will be able to start playing on September 22nd.
