The Growth and Evolution of Flash Gaming

Flash game

Online gaming has become so popular that we tend not to think of some of the technologies that power it, and their ages. One of these has is Flash games, while there are more engines that can be used now, Macromedia’s tools have hung around for a good twenty years.

The power of Flash for casual games flourished to life with the rise of these types of animated games in 2001. Bringing games online, they were popular and with the ability to load on a web page they were a refreshing way to play many different styles of games.

With the popularity of Flash as a way of providing games, the biggest users of these games have been social media sites, especially Facebook. We also see the software used on online casino sites because of the level of functionality Flash provides for these applications.

It is arguable, though, that Facebook is the place where Flash found its true place to grow. You just have to look at Facebook Games right now to see that. Games like William Hill Vegas Casino roulette are some of the most used titles. Though Flash may not be the best software when it comes to mobile devices, it was still used to provide the spark in growth.

While the performance of Flash may have become a concern, and it’s had its share of security issues, it still remains strong. With more powerful computers and devices, Flash manages to run better than it ever has. The fact that it has competition now shows the importance of Flash to the history and growth of casual and social gaming.
