In addition to the Super Mario Collection, Nintendo of Japan is also releasing a special red Wii to celebrate Mario’s 25th birthday.
The only thing that could have made it any better would have been a big white "M" logo on the side.
Set for a November 11 release date, this incarnation of the Wii will also come packaged with the new Wii Remote Plus. For those of you who hadn’t heard the news, Nintendo will now be combining Wii remotes and Wii Motion Plus add-ons into one, much more convenient piece of hardware.
Preloaded onto the console will be a copy of the original Super Mario Bros. with "25" on every item block.
In accordance to what we’ve all become far too accustomed to, it’s highly unlikely we’ll see this fine piece of machinery anywhere near North American shores. There’s no word on a European release, but that’s also unlikely. This is the type of thing only Japan gets (much to the chagrin of gamers everywhere outside of the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’).
Retailing for a price of ¥20,000 (about $240), this special Wii package will not be bundled with the Super Mario Collection itself.
