Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection not coming to Xbox 360

According to series’ creator, Hideo Kojima, Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection is not coming to the Xbox 360. This should come as no surprise, as The Legacy Collection contains nearly every installment in the series, which of course includes Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. The issue is one of storage capacity, and it’s the same issue that kept MGS4 from being released for the Xbox 360 in 2008. The Xbox 360 uses traditional DVDs, whereas the PlayStation 3 uses Blu-ray discs — a format that holds nearly seven times the amount of data.

“I’m sorry to say an Xbox 360 version isn’t being released, because an Xbox 360 version of [MGS4] hasn’t gone on sale,” Kojima said during his online radio show. “To explain the situation, the amount of data in [MGS4] is just too enormous.”

He did, however, not rule out the possibility of releasing a version for Microsoft’s next generation console.

“When it’s the next [Xbox] console, maybe we can release [MGS4 or The Legacy Collection],” Kojima added. “If we released a version on the Xbox 360 without MGS4, then it’s not The Legacy Collection.”
