“Dragonborn”, the third expansion to Bethesda’s critically acclaimed RPG epic Skyrim has finally been confirmed for release.
Announced with a trailer that can be viewed below, the DLC will feature several interesting new features. The aspect to cause most fanboy glee is the inclusion of dragon mounts, which look set to make horses so 2011. In addition, spears will be making a debut as a new weapon, as well as armor crafted from bone.
The plot will revolve around the antagonistic Dragonbeast, referred to in the trailer as the first Dragonborn, as he consumes the souls of dragons in order to return to his previous power.
The setting is to return to the island of Solthseim, which was previously the location of the 2003 Morrowind expansion “Blood Moon.” The island has been visible since the launch of Skyrim in November 2011, which in addition to Bethesda trademarking the name “Dragonborn” in September, had led to fan speculation.
“Dragonborn” will be available for download for 1600 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE on December 4. No word yet on the content coming to PC or PlayStation Network, but GamerNode has contacted Bethesda for clarity.
