Earlier today Nintendo held a broadcast in which key details about the Wii U were revealed, including the new console’s price point, release date, and upcoming games.
On November 18, US residents will be able to purchase the Wii U in either a basic or deluxe set. The former includes the console, a GamePad, a GamePad charging cable, AC adaptor, HDMI cable, sensor bar, and 8GB of memory. The deluxe set comes with all of the aforementioned items in addition to 32GB of memory, a GamePad charging cradle, a copy of NintendoLand, and enrollment in a premium service on Nintendo Direct.
As far as prices goes, the basic set will cost gamers $299 while the deluxe set will go for $349.
Nintendo also announced a whole slew of “launch window” games, though that timeframe extends all the way into March of next year. Two of the more noteworthy releases mentioned were Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Bayonetta 2, which will be a Wii U exclusive.
Quite a bit of time was also spent detailing Nintendo TVii, which is the company’s take on multimedia entertainment with the help of services such as Amazon and Hulu Plus. Content can be played on both the GamePad and TV, and there seems to be some interesting interactions between the two devices as well.
With such a lengthy “launch window,” it should be interesting to see whether or not the Wii U gets off to a strong start this holiday season. In any event, here is a full list of titles that are expected to be available during that time:
