After doing battle with the vampires of “Dawnguard,” players of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will have a brand new enemy to take on: Home ownership. The game’s second DLC, “Hearthfire,” will have players buying land, building a home from scratch, and turning it into a large estate when the add-on releases on Xbox LIVE September 4.
The “Hearthfire” trailer, found below, details everything gamers want to know about this very non-violent content. After carefully purchasing a plot of land somewhere in Skyrim, players will be able to add additions and expansions of various forms to their newly constructed household. These range from simple rooms such as a kitchen to those more expected of an adventurer’s home, like trophy chambers and alchemy labs.
Players can furnish and customize the house themselves, or hire a steward to do most of the work for them. They will also be able to move their spouse in with them and even begin a family thanks to the DLC’s addition of an adoption system.
But owning a home in Skyrim isn’t always the safest of ventures. The trailer finishes showing this Dovakiin’s estate threatened by the likes of skeevers and giants. Perhaps there may even be future risk from bandits or even dragons.
Though “Hearthfire” already has a date set for the Xbox 360, no news regarding if or when the content will land on the PlayStation 3 or PC has been released.
