As far as releases go this week, we have the most anticipated PC title of the year, some big DLC, and a few fantastic arcade games. All will be available to gamers in the next seven days.
August 28 features the release of the biggest PC title this year, Guild Wars 2. The fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing game sees players fighting in the land of Tyria. The Guild Wars sequel is set 250 years after the events of its predecessor and players are tasked with uniting the various races to defeat the five elder dragons that are causing destruction to towns and their innocent people.
August 28 is also the day of Mass Effect 3‘s “Leviathan DLC” release. The content is single-player only, featuring story-driven gameplay in which players are on the hunt for a mysterious figure who is rumored to have the power to destroy a Reaper. Along the way, gamers will learn more about the origin of the Reapers as well as gain access to uncharted systems, new Citadel areas, brand new characters, and all new weapons.
August 29 is the release date of Harmonix’s latest musical experience Rock Band Blitz. The game will be available on Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network, becoming the first download-only title for the developer. Rock Band Blitz showcases a setlist of 20+ songs and is compatible with all the downloadable content that gamers have purchased over the franchise’s lifespan. The new game also features the “no peripheral” option, allowing gamers to use a regular Xbox 360 controller to load up their power-ups and get rocking!
