Telltale Games has addressed concerns regarding the release schedule for the company’s latest episodic adventure, The Walking Dead. The third episode of the popular game, titled “Long Road Ahead,” should be out in the middle of August.
Episodic gaming is a tricky one, and often fans can become disgruntled when their episodes are released less frequently than hoped. Half Life 2: Episode 3 is the most notable example of this, with its previous episode coming out in 2007. A similar, albeit far less severe, situation arose with The Walking Dead‘s second installment, which released later than anticipated.
“First and foremost we want to thank everyone for their patience with regard to the launch of episode two of The Walking Dead,” writes Telltale. “Our goal from day one has been to deliver your game episodes as quickly as possible, and where we can, simultaneously across all platforms and regions.”
European members of the PlayStation Network weren’t able to get their hands on Episode 2: “Starving For Help” until yesterday – a week after other platforms in other regions. Cast any further concerns aside, however, as Telltale means to deliver the next episode of their stylish zombie apocalypse drama in a more timely, and unified, manner.
“For many of you, the most important thing is to let you know when the next episode (Episode 3: Long Road Ahead) will be available, and although we can’t give you an exact date at this time, we can say that episode three will be ready in the middle of August, and that we and our partners will do all that we can to release all platforms and regions as close together as possible.”
GamerNode’s own Mike Murphy praised Episode 2 – “Starving For Help” for being “close to flawless,” citing the game’s ability “to rival the emotional and psychological tones featured in the graphic novel.” It certainly seems that Telltale is doing amazing things with The Walking Dead, and like many others I’m already looking forward to Episode 3.
