The February 2011 issue of Game Informer has revealed that Konami’s eigth installment in their storied horror series will be titled Silent Hill: Downpour. That’s right, water just got a lot scarier.
Though the magazine’s latest edition has yet to hit store shelves, a poster on NeoGaf managed to catch a good glimpse of some scans that detailed a few interesting aspects of the game. It sounds like there are big changes in store for Silent Hill.
Here’s some of what’s ahead for the new southeastern section of this terrifying city: gravity-defying water effects (like a river on the ceiling), enemies that can take a beating (running may be required), quick-time event boss battles, an inventory-free weapon system, sidequests, puzzles, an area big enough to require subway travel, and an already announced demo taking place on the outskirts of the city.
With all of these new additions and the spine-chilling trailer above, Downpour looks like it might be the revival the Silent Hill series needs. Look for it on store shelves sometime later this year on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
