A press release from indie developer New Life Interactive has revealed a release date for Cell: Emergence, an upcoming downloadable title.
The game will be coming to Xbox LIVE Indie Games, GamersGate, GameStop PC Downloads, Green Man Gaming, Playism, and Desura on February 9, with a free demo being released two days earlier on February 7.
Xbox 360 owners will be able to purchase the game for 400 Microsoft Points while the Cell HD PC version will cost $8.95. The latter will include half a million more cells and improved fidelity.
According to New Life Interactive, Cell: Emergence is “inspired by ‘hard’ ’80s arcade games like Defender, Centipede, and Missile Command, [and] offers 17 punishing levels that require players to decipher a level’s ‘cellular automata’ simulation and then battle living processes with speed and dexterity.”
Sheldon Pacotti, lead writer on Deus Ex and Deus Ex: Invisible War, wrote the story for Cell: Emergence. For more information on the game, check out GamerNode’s exclusive interview with Pacotti.
